Synthesis and development of Layered Double Hydroxide based coatings on aluminum alloys through hydrothermal method. AlMg, ZnAl, LiAl, ZnMgAl, CaAl, and CaAlMg LDH can be obtained on the surface of aluminum by means of al electrochemical or chemical methods assisted by temperature and pressure. The potential applications are: water treatment, corrosion protection, superhydrophobic/hydrophilic switch, ions exchange, drugs release.

Electrochemical and morphological investigation of the effect of rare earth (RE) salts (terbium, Tb and gadolinium, Gd) on the corrosion rate of aluminum alloys. Study of the effect of the addition of the RE on the corrosion mechanism of aluminium in presence of chlorides. Applications: protection of aluminium components against corrosion, development of environmentally friendly pretreatment for aluminium.
