Attività di ricerca

I miei studi si situano all'interno di una prospettiva di politica comparata. Mi occupo principlamente di partiti politici, con particolare attenzione alla politica etno-territoriale ed alle riforme istituzionali. Gli ambiti di ricerca nei quali sono stato più attivo sono quelli dei partiti regionalisti nelle democrazie occidentali, delle riforme federali e delle riforme elettorali. Recentemente mi sono occupato, in collaborazione con colleghi basati in Austria ed in Svizzera, dei rapporti tra populismo, dinamiche centro-periferia e politica etno-territoriale in Europa. Attualmente, la mia ricerca sta convergendo sul tema generale delle dinamiche centrifughe (o apertamente secessioniste) nell'ambito del sistema di governance multi-livello della Ue. In particolare, in parallelo ad altri progetti portati avanti in collaborazione con colleghi di università italiane e straniere, sto conducendo una ricerca - finanziata dal Programma Rita Levi Montalcini - sul posizionamento delle istituzioni della Ue rispetto ai propositi e tentativi secessionisti di alcune regioni europee, quali Catalogna, Fiandre, Paesi Baschi e Scozia.
