Education

I graduated in Classical Philology from the University of Pisa (BA 2006, MA 2008) and the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa (MA 2008, PhD 2012). 
Academic career and teaching activities

Before joining the Humanities faculty at Trento in 2018, I was a Junior Researcher at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Neo-Latin Studies (Innsbruck, Austria) between 2011 and 2012, and an Assistant Professor of Classics at Georgetown University (Washington, DC) between 2012 and 2018. 

My main area of research is Latin verse between the 2nd century BCE and the 1st century CE. I approach texts mostly from a philological and literary viewpoint. I am also interested in Latin prose (especially the Roman novel), Greek poetry (especially Hellenistic), the history of manuscripts and printed books, and the reception of Graeco-Roman literature in the early-modern age. 

At Trento I teach courses in Latin Philology (BA) and Latin language and literature (BA and MA), as well as graduate classes and seminars within the interdisciplinary PhD programs. I also participate in post-graduate activities for the professional development of high-school teachers, tutor undergraduate and graduate students, and teach visiting and exchange students. I teach my classes in Italian and English.
