Center for Mind/Brain Sciences - CIMeC
The research areas at the Center for Mind/Brain Sciences - CIMeC span from experimental psychology and neuroimaging acquisition methods to cognitive neurosciences and animal cognition to computational linguistics. The Centre is composed of the departments of Psychology and Cognitive science, Humanities, Mathematics, Physics, Information engineering and computer science.
The Center is organized in six interdisciplinary laboratories:
- Functional Neuroimaging Laboratories (LNiF)
- Neuropsychology Laboratory (NP)
- Animal Cognition and Comparative Neuroscience Laboratory (ACN)
- Language, Interaction and Computation Laboratory (CLIC)
- Center for Neurocognitive Rehabilitation (CeRiN)
- Experimental Psychology Laboratories (EPL)
The focus of the Centre is on research, teaching and the dissemination of knowledge in the local community. It employs academics from Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, the United States, Canada, Argentina, Israel and other countries, and some of them have won prestigious prizes in highly competitive disciplines, both at national and international level.
CIMeC established close collaborations with Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK), Fondazione Edmund Mach, the Museo Civico of Rovereto and the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT) - Centre for neuroscience and cognitive systems, and its researchers, who spread their work giving public lectures open to everyone, are well integrated in local networks.
The Centre offers a Master’s degree and a PhD course which give students excellent employment opportunities once they have completed their studies, and this is possible thanks to a strong empirical approach at all levels.
CIMeC has been recently ranked as the leading research unit in Cognitive neuroscience in Italy.
