Systems and Control Theory, Network Theory and Systems Biology.

Giulia's main research interests include the analysis and the control of dynamical networks, with applications especially to biology and epidemiology.

Giulia is the author or co-author of more than 100 contributions to international journals, books and international peer-reviewed conferences.

Her research activities are interdisciplinary, at the edge between Systems and Control Theory, Mathematics, Engineering and Biology/Epidemiology.

  • 2022: Outstanding Service as Associate Editor of the IEEE Control Systems Letters for
    the year 2021, awarded every year to a single Associate Editor
  • 2021: SIAM Activity Group on Control and Systems Theory Prize, awarded every two years to one outstanding early career researcher for distinguished contributions to the mathematical theory of systems and control, for "significant contributions to the development of innovative methodologies for the structural analysis of networked control systems and their applications to biological networks".
  • 2020: Outstanding Reviewer, Annals of Internal Medicine.
  • 2017: NAHS Best Paper Prize for the triennium 2014-2016, Nonlinear Analysis: Hybrid Systems.
  • 2017: EECI PhD Award 2016, for the best Ph.D. thesis in Europe in the field of Control for Complex and Heterogeneous Systems, European Embedded Control Institute.
