Characterization of the mode of action of a biocontrol agent effective against Erwinia amylovora
Master degree students, bachelor degree students
Tuesday 24 January 2023

The main aim of the work will be to determine the mode of action of bacterial biocontrol agent effective in controlling  Erwinia amylovora, the causal agent of fire blight disease.

The main actvities will consist in:

-Production of knock-out mutants

-Identification of genes involved in the biocontrol of Erwinia amylovora

-Characterization of knock-out mutants

-Biocontol trials in greenhouse

Molecular mechanisms implemented by Erwinia amylovora to shape the apple flower microbiome
Bachelor and master degree students
Tuesday 24 January 2023

Experiments will be carried out to assess the involvement of the quorum sensing and type secretion systems in the ability of Erwinia amylovora, the causal agent of the fire blight, to shape the apple flower microbiome

Main activities:

-Knock-out mutant generation

-Characterization of knock-out mutants

-Metagenomics
