Dario Petri received the M.Sc. degree (summa cum laude) in Electronics Engineering from the University of Padova (Italy) in 1986. He also received the Ph.D. degree in Information Engineering from the same University in 1990. |

Academic career and teaching activities |
|
From 1990 to 1992, he was with the Department of Electronics and Information Engineering, University of Padua as an Assistant Professor. In 1992, he joined the University of Perugia as an Associate Professor. In 1999 he became a Full Professor of measurement and electronic instrumentation. From 1999 to 2002 he coordinated the M.Sc and B.Sc courses in Electronics and Computer Engineering at the University of Perugia. |

Research interests cover different fields and are focused on data acquisition systems design and testing, embedded systems, instrumentation for smart energy grids, fundamentals of measurement theory, measurement for quality management, and application of digital signal processing to measurement problems. |

During his research career, Dario Petri has been an author of over 400 papers published in international journals or in proceedings of peer reviewed international conferences. His research activities cover different fields and are focused on data acquisition systems design and testing, embedded systems, instrumentation for smart energy grids, fundamentals of measurement theory, measurement for quality management, and application of digital signal processing to measurement problems. |

Dario Petri is an IEEE Fellow member and the recipient of the 2020 IEEE Joseph F. Keithley Award “for contributions to measurement fundamentals and signal processing techniques in instrumentation and measurement.” Dario Petri is an Associate Editor in Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement and a member of the Italian Academy of Engineering and Technology (ITATEC). He is also the chair of the IEEE Smart Cities Initiative in Trento since 2015. He was the VP for Finance of the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society from 2013 to 2018, the VP for Conferences of the same Society from 2011 to 2013. He chaired the Italian Association of Electrical and Electronic Measurement (GMEE) from 2013 to 2016 and the IEEE Italy Section from 2012 to 2014. He was distinguished Reviewer and Distinguished Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurements. He was also a member of the Group of Expert of Evaluation (GEV) for research in the area of Industrial and Information Engineering in Italy from 2016 to 2017. Dario Petri was Co-founder and General Chair for various IEEE International Conferences and Workshops. He was also a Co-founder and General Chair of various IEEE Summer Schools. Dario Petri was the head of the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science of the University of Trento from 2010 to 2012 and the head of the Department of Industrial Engineering of the same University from 2016 to 2021. He was a member of the Evaluation Committee of the University of Trento from 2006 to 2010, and a member of the Committee for Quality Improvement and the Committee for Recruitment and Career Advancement of professors and researchers of the same University from 2013 to 2014 and from 2014 to 2015, respectively. |
