Abstract:
The course consists of two parts. A first part, which is the main one, is intended to provide students with basic sociological knowledge that enables them to develop a sociological understanding of the phenomena and problems encountered in professional education. A second part is specifically intended to provide elements of social policy and knowledge of the organisation of social and educational services. In particular for the first part students will acquire knowledge of the main sociological paradigms, concepts and categories; they will develop the ability to apply this knowledge to the analysis of phenomena of relevance to the educational profession and in particular an ability to read how the wider social context influences personal experiences. They will also acquire elements of sociological language useful for understanding texts and descriptions of experiences relevant to professional education. In the second, more circumscribed part, the students will acquire the ability to gain an understanding of the system of services in which they will carry out their internship and work
