Ultrasound spectroscopy for the diagnosis of lung diseases

This thesis will focus on the design and implementation of numerical algorithms to be applied to in-vitro experiemtenal data and to clinical data with the final goal to develop a quantitative ultrasound diagnostic method fully dedicated to the specific properties of the lung.

Dedicated Signal processing for High Frame Rate Ultrasound Imaging

This thesis will focus on the design, implementation and testing of high frame rate ultrasound imaging strategies. The work will include programming a real ultrasound scanner, collecting and processing experimental data as well as processing of patient data.

Modelling ultrasound propagation through bubbly media

This thesis will focus on the development of an original mathematical framework able to compute the fields originating from the interaction of ultrasound waves with microbubbles. This model will then be implemented and tested numerically.

Advanced non-linear beam forming for super resolution ultrasound imaging

This thesis will focus on the testing and further development of non-linear super resolution beam forming schemes, with targeted applications in security (finger print imaging) and diagnostic (medical imaging).

The work will include programming ultrasound scanners, design of dedicated phantoms, data acquisition and analysis.
