Olfactory habituation
Master's degree students (or bachelor's degree students for a possible internship)
Tuesday 09 February 2021

Olfactory perception can be modulated by the repeated exposure to odours. Olfactory habituation is a reduced behavioural response to continuous or repetitive stimulation.  The possible thesis projects purports to iinvestigate bottom-up and top-down processes that could affect olfactory habituation.

The role of the student will be to conduct a complete behavioral study on olfactort habituation. In addition, the student will analyze  the behavioral data related to the variables of interest with a supervisione. Finally, the student will have to write a thesis based on the data collected.

The project  will try to shed light on possible unisensory and/or multisensory alterations on food perception that can influence the way overweight/obese people select their food and how much they eat. Moreover, the project purports to clarify the role of non-homeostatic mechanisms underlying food processing in normal weight and overweight/obese individuals and different conditions of hunger/satiety.

The role of the student will be to conduct a complete behavioral study on unisensory and multisensory aspects of food perception in overweight/obese individuals. In addition, the student will analyze  the behavioral data related to the variables of interest with a supervisione. Finally, the student will have to write a thesis based on the data collected.
